How often should transmission fluid be changed?

Approx. how many miles for an automatic transmission before it needs to be changed? How often should transmission fluid be changed?
i think most manufactures don't have a schedule for changing transmission fluid in the owners manual, but if you go to the dealer, they most always have a schedule for you. some cars are better than others, like if i owned a ford or chevy product, i would change fluid very 15 to 20k miles. if it was a nissan, probly somewhere around 60k miles with normal driving. not always best to believe manufacture schedule cuz they know the car will last out of warranty on those schedules.

for instance, some models recommend 7500 miles for an oil change. the only ppl i know who wait that long know nothing about car maintenance.

fluid on newer cars esp. imports is pretty expensive.

some independent shops that advertise changing all the fluid in the trans use regular trans fluid with additives. that is not always a good idea cuz they have minimum wage workers adding whatever they want to your trans. some makes don't have filters, just a screen and some trans pans don't have drain plugs for the do it yourselfer.

to answer your q, i would do drain and fill trans every 15k miles and if you can get all the fluid changed, then 25 to 30k miles. How often should transmission fluid be changed?
50,000...I know because I am 200 miles from needing one. :)How often should transmission fluid be changed?
id say at 15,000 miles to be safe, 25,000 miles maximum

dont forget the basic filters in the trany. Most oil change shops service transmission oil nowadays. ther other person said 50,000..that is acceptable, depends how much you like your car I guess. and how hard you drive it, and the weather conditions where you live etc.How often should transmission fluid be changed?
It really depends on the car and usage. If it's an older car and you don't know when the fluid was changed last, it may be bad to change it.

Your best bet is to look in the owner's manual. It has schedules for changing the fluids. How often should transmission fluid be changed?
You should have your transmission serviced every 24,000 miles. Every 12,000 miles if do alot of heavy hauling or a lot of stop %26amp; go driving. Have it done by a reputable Dealer or Transmission shop. They can change the fluid and make the necessary adjustments. It's fairly inexpensive compared to a New transmission. Don't send a woman or anyone who doesn't know anything about cars. Nothing against women, but most don't know anything about cars. There is a lot of men that don't know anything about cars either.

Also there is some good additives to help an older transmissions, after 50,000 miles. %26quot;Lucas%26quot; makes one of the best.

If the transmission fluid is a brown looking color and smells like varish get the transmission serviced. How often should transmission fluid be changed?
I have 2 Pontiacs that recomend it be changed every 100,000 kilometers. You would have to check with the manufactuer for your particular type of car.How often should transmission fluid be changed?
Now a days....car factory manual said it is no need to change the it will goes for the whole life of your car. If this is the case then many lubricant factories will goes to bankrupt, then it is advise to change it within 25000 miles or after you change the engine oils twice. How often should transmission fluid be changed?
i say 15 to 25k Miles
