Yes, you should to change it about every 12 months. To do it you remove the bolts from the transmission pan. Leave the four bolts of the corners for last. Take these about half way out and then pry the pan from the bottom of the transmission, (if it doesn't come down on its own.) then, while holding the pan up with one hand, remove 3 of the remaining bolts. Tilt the pan down and use the corner opposite the remaining bolt to let the fluid pour into your drain pan. When you've gotten as much as you can out of the pan, push it back up and remove the last bolt and take it down. Doing it this way will keep you from taking a transmission fluid bath. Pour the rest of the fluid into the drain pan after you get out from under the car. Take out the filter. Some of them push up and are held in place by bolt, while others are held up by an o-ring on the outside of the tube and rest on the bottom of the pan. Clean out the pan with some break clean and a rag. Use your finger to put a light coat of grease around the rim of the pan where the gasket sits. This will stick the gasket to the pan while you put it back in place and, at the same time, avoid problems transmission fluid has of disolving silicone. Replace the filter. Hold the pan up in position and put in enough bolts in to hold the pan up. Replace the rest of the bolts and snug them up. Do not overtighten the bolts. This will cause the pan to be warped between the bolt holes and it will leak. Add the proper amount of fluid and check for any leaks. Start the car and warm it up. Go through all the gears and put it in park and check for leaks. If the pan is leaking then tighten the bolts up a little until the leaks stop. Be sure to check the bolts after a week or two to make sure the pan hasn't started leaking because of the compression of the gasket.Do you have to change the auto transmission fluid of Altima 2002?
you need to service the transmission every 30,000 miles, filter included, I would suggest taking it to a shop, they will be able to tell you if there is any preexisting problems, when they pull the pan, also if you do not put the gasket on right it will leak and if you overtighten the pan bolts it will leak and you may strip the bolt hole or twist off a bolt. it is nice to save money, but this could cost you more doing it yourself, compared to what a shop would charge youDo you have to change the auto transmission fluid of Altima 2002?
