how to change and flush out the transmission fluid on a 2005 chevy venture. my husband insists on doing it himself. How do you change transmission fluid on a 2005 venture and flush it too?
The only way to drain the transmission is to unbolt the pan and drop it. The torque converter also holds a lot of fluid, and draining it usually requires removing a plug. Be sure you have new gaskets and a new internal filter available before the pan's reattachment.
Some transmission places will suck out fluid from the dip-stick tube while performing a fluid replacement; needless to say, they don't get it all out.How do you change transmission fluid on a 2005 venture and flush it too?
why would you want to flush the trans fluid? How do you change transmission fluid on a 2005 venture and flush it too?
You simply CANNOT do a good job of this yourself. All you will be doing is thinning out the older used fluid with newer stuff. The converter holds several quarts of old fluid in it, all by itself. THe right thing to do is to drop the pan, change the filter and pan gasket. Top it up. Then go to the GM dealer, and pay them to flush and fill the thing. They will use the right fluid and the correct procedure for your particular car. BEWARE of generic trans fluid. BIG TROUBLE HERE!!! Paying $150 is worth worrying less!!!
