Do I have to pump into the transmission? or just refill it?How do I change the transmission fluid in my V70 R, 2004?
You didnt mention if its a manual or automatic trans. If its an automatic you can just drain and refill it sounds easy right ? Heres the ins and outs of it, first you MUST use special volvo synthetic trans. fluid available only at your dealership and it is very expensive, Use a 15/16's wrench to remove drain plug on bottom of trans. When its time to refill the trans. you fill it thourgh the dipstick tube wich is kinda hard to get to and your gonna need a very long skinny funnel. I highly recomend catching the drained fluid into something that you can measure, this way you add just that much of new fluid back, it is very easy to overfill as the synthetic fluid level fluctuates a great deal from hot to cold. If you just drain and fill this is gonna be anout 4 liters, this is a problem as the transmission actually holds about 12 liters of fluid so you cannot get it all out with a drain and fill You must do whats called a trans. flush wich I would leave up to your local dealership, its too much to get into here. If you have a manual trans. just leave it no need to service this, besides i once seen an independent shop remove what they thought was the fill plug, it was actually not and it caused something inside to fall apart. You have a bueatiful car, let the pro's do it right !How do I change the transmission fluid in my V70 R, 2004?
first have you dropped it ? I'm not familiar with the car you are talking about but if it has a drain plug then there should be a filler hole somewhere on the transmission. Now if that's the case then fill till fluid comes out the hole. some transmissions require you too unbolt the sump and drain it that way and if it has a dipstick that's where you fill it back up again down the dipstick pipe remember check transmission fluid when the engine is running
