I need to change out my fluid and replace the filter. I don't know where to start or what to look for. I have a bottle of lucas and enough fluid to replace it and a brand new filter. Is there an online diagram on how to change out the transmission fluid and filter for a %26039;94 camaro?
It is messy, but be prepared. Jack car up in front and block it. Then get a BIG pan, as there is no drain plug. See the flat, mostly square pan on the bottom of the transmission, good, now loosen all the bolts, see how the fluid comes out everywhere? It runs down the frame yuck, but nessessary. When the mess is over, there is another square pan under that one, but it just has 3 screws, take them out and keep screws discard filter (square thing), then wipe the bottom of the pan out good, take new filter and install, then take just a small amount of pematex or grease or vasoline, just to keep gasket on pan straight, smear it on the pan lip and set gasket on it, then put in place, and start a few bolts, then the rest, only slightly tight, then tighten all the bolts crisscrossing back and forth, then go all around, they should be tight but not overly tight, while it's up, get some degreaser spray and spray it down and hose it off, drop car back down and fill to proper leval. Is there an online diagram on how to change out the transmission fluid and filter for a %26039;94 camaro?
I have never seen one but this can be a messy job. need to remove almost all pan bolts then when removing last few break pan loose and drain some of oil using a few bolts opposite where oil is drain to hold pan up. then completely remove pan and gasket the remove and then remove and replace filter. then clean off pan and replace gasket, then bolt back up. be sure to evenly tighten bolts, do not over torque as can break. then fill with trans fluid, but do not over fill. In doing this you will not get old fluid out of torque converter. need special equipment to flush this out.
