I perform fuel injection cleanings and transmission fluid and filter changes on a regular basis. Although I think $500 is way too high, I also think some of the prices being provided to have both professionally done are unrealistic. If you are going to have the transmission service done, do it right and clean out the pan, the magnet and replace the filter. I have seen chunks and globs of sand-like goop come out of pans and filters. Also you get what you pay for with fuel injection cleaning. I have the rather expensive equipment to do the job right at the rail with a concentrated cleaner, under pressure and disabling the fuel injection system. I have performed these services on 4 Runners and they use Banjo bolts at the rails and few, if any, cheap setups will ever be able to attach to the rail.
My advice is get the transmission service done properly and wait on the fuel injection cleaning. $150-$200 is not unrealistic to the have the transmission service done properly. The actual labor time to do the complete transmission service is 2.8 hours because it is not as simple as some would have you believe. More importantly, make sure the correct ATF fluid is used if you go to an independent. Toyota has a specific fluid (Toyota Type T-IV) that should be used. There is also a TSB (TC001-02) about it. Most times there is a difference between having a job performed cheap or having it performed properly. Trans flush runs around $180, same for coolant flush.

well a tranny flush should only be around 150 well it is where i work as for the fue injection its nothing to change all that happens is the mass air flow sensor gets cleaned throtle body gets cleaned and a can of cleaner that is safe for the injectors gets dumped in with your gas and it works up to 4 fill up on cleaning the injectors so the 500 is about right for everything the trainny flush and fill and the cleaning but if the 500 is just for the flush then would take i to someone elseHow much should it cost to change the transmission fluid in a 2000 Toyota 4-Runner? if all it needs is transmission fluid changed, meaning draining it out(just like an oil change, remove bolts, then remove the transmission pan after you drain it, has about 10-20 bolts that need removed, replace the old gasket seal(clean the old seal off the pan, make sure rim of pan and where it attaches too the vehicle is clean and dry, clean the pan itself out with a solvent to get sediments out too). if you can do this, having the right gasket(need all the vehicle specs for auto parts store). its a matter of draining, cleaning old seal off, put new on and put the pan back on the vehicle. your done. call auto parts store for parts and prices, and also see if they can tell you the size of the transmission fluid bolt that you have remove to drain it with to get the right socket. have year, make model engine size, and auto or standard transmission info
on hand when you call. you may be looking at no more than 100.00 if that, if you can do this yourself.
pick up drain pan, to make sure of safe and easy clean up.
as far as a fuel injection needing cleaned its a matter of spraying cleaning from a can to clean them, you can also put fuel injector cleaner in your gas and SAVE money. they charge you rediculous amount to spray your injectors, this way is cheaper and does the same thing. good luck
