Take it to a Ford Service Center.

You will not be able to get all of the transmission fluid out by yourself by simply dropping the pan. You can get some of the fluid out that way. Once the pan is off install a new transmission filter. Reinstall pan with new pan gasket and add fluid. Take the Ranger to the stealership and have the transmission flushed. If you use a shop other than a Ford dealership you need to make sure they put Dexron V / Mercon V back into the transmission. Read the following link. I'm the one posting the pics.
