It is very important, depending on the make/model the recommendations can be anywhere from 30K - 100K miles. Some even have lifetime fluid. The benefits of changing your fluid is something you will not see till later down the road when you get into the higher mileage...and your trans is still strong....I think it is money well spent. I knew a courier who flushed his saturn every 20K......he was at 368,000 miles on the original tranny when he switched jobs. How important is it to change your automatic transmission fluid?
Nobody does it, so not really important. But you should do it.How important is it to change your automatic transmission fluid?
Depends on the mileage and severity of your driving style. Read the service recommendations in your manual. Many cars can go 100,000 without service under %26quot;normal%26quot; conditions. How important is it to change your automatic transmission fluid?
every 100 000 miles is good, along with the filter.
but u should check it every month to make sure its not low or burnt and to see that its bright red and not brown. because if your alittle too low youll kill your transmission in a hurry.
take for example u go to a lube shop and get your oil changed, then they look at the transmission dip stick and see that your alittle low on it, not taking to concern that transmission fluid is checked with the car running, so they add 1 extra quart over the full line, and you drive it and you notice the cars acting weird, then by the end of the day youve toasted that transmission because of the fact that too much fluid is the same as too little, the transmission spins the fluid all about making it foam up and starves itself.
theres a very fine line between perfect symbiosis and catastropheHow important is it to change your automatic transmission fluid?
It should be done every 50,000 miles it has to be done by a shop with a tranny flush. If you are shade tree you can do it your self by taking the pan off the bottom but you will probably get only about half out then put that back in and do it over to get around 75% out then i would do it once more bringing a total of about 85% out. If your tranny is shifting hard or lugs then it would mostlikely cure it.How important is it to change your automatic transmission fluid?
you know ive been driving hard with al my cars for about 40 years now and ive yet to change any of mine an dsom eof my car had 400,000 miles should be done once every few years but really most people dont keep any car that long to worry about it.. shoul dbe done evry 60,000 or so miles.. if you was to do it at home might be 40 bucks and thats on the high sideHow important is it to change your automatic transmission fluid?
it depends on if you like the car and want it to last awhile. If you don't change it the fluid it can breakdown and burn turning blackish red. the additives will be gone and be no use to the clutch material and you will get a varnish that will make the internals stick such as the valve body solenoids and cause shift problems. as this happens you bands and clutches can burn out and cause slipping and the transmission will need to be rebuilt. its worth having a transmission fluid transfer unless you like spending lots of money for a rebuilt transmission and having it fail again after that.
